Polaris Brings ATV Team to DAKAR
For this year's DAKAR, Polaris was the first manufacturer to participate with an official ATV Team. Polaris France has four members racing in the famous race.

"We are excited about being the first manufacturer to have an official race team for the DAKAR," said Eric Nault, race team manager for Polaris. "Polaris France has put together a competitive team for the race and we look forward to the outcome."

French racer Hubert Deltrieu, winner of the DAKAR Series Central Europ, Lybia Desert Challenge, Pharaons Rallye and second at the DAKAR Series Portugal, will lead the DAKAR team. Deltrieu will be accompanied by Eric Carlini and Betty Kraft. Kraft is one of only three women competing in this year's DAKAR and has the goal to be the first woman to cross the finish line. Italian racer Pietro Fogliani rounds out the team. Fogliani has raced the truck class at DAKAR three previous times and his experience will be invaluable to the team.

The racers chose the 2009 Outlaw 525 IRS for this grueling race as the quad has proven its tenacity and endurance in races with challenging terrain. The Outlaw 525 IRS' Independent Rear Suspension soaks up the rough terrain to minimize rider fatigue, providing a nice advantage for the racers.

See The First Hydrogen Class 8 Semi Trucks
Hydrogen Hybrid Corp. announced today that in conjunction with The Queen Mary of Long Beach, California, a class 8 semi truck modified with an 8x Mega Fuel Cell System will be on display. The 8x Mega Fuel Cell System can be installed on any class 8 semi truck and produces enough Hydrogen on board to cut the semi truck's emissions by 30 to 95 percent, increase its fuel mileage from 30 to 50 percent, and extend its engines life.

The 8x Mega Fuel Cell System measures 24x18x18 inches and works with the semi truck's engine to produce over 2,500 liters of hydrogen per hour. The system was tested over several thousand miles on a new Series-60 Detroit, 14L engine, running 65 mph in routes from Ohio to Texas, Texas to New Mexico, New Mexico to California and back to Ohio. The system converts water into a hydrogen fuel using an unordinary method of resonant electrolysis. The engine is treated with patented, SEMA-certified coating that reduces friction and thermo-heat loss, and eliminates hydrogen embrittlement. The system also utilizes patented fuel additives to increase engine lubrication, resulting in reduced engine pits and performance loss. A series of heat exchangers raises the diesel fuel to maximize compression combustion in the engine. The average mpg increased from 5.45 mpg to 8.9 mpg on the best run. The minimum increase was 5.45 mpg to 8.17 mpg. Idle gallons per hour were decreased from 1 gallon per hour to 0.1 gallons per hour. Owner operators and large trucking companies have an opportunity to increase annual profits by as much as 50 percent, lower maintenance cost by 70 precent, decrease pollution, and assist in lowering the dependency on foreign oil. Ranger RZR wins championships with SCORE, BITD, GNCC and WORCS for 2008
Mark Lindsay and his Ranger RZR captured the SCORE "UTV Sportsman" championship leading the class with 204 points, 40 points ahead of the second-place finisher. The championship is the fourth for the Ranger RZR in 2008

"Polaris is extremely happy with the success of the Ranger RZR during the 2008 racing season and we congratulate Lindsay on his championship," said Craig Scanlon, product line sales manager for the Polaris Side x Side Division. "The Ranger RZR continues to show its versatility and endurance in Side-by-Side racing and with the addition of the Range RZR-S, we look forward to a successful 2009."

Earlier this season, Lindsay made history in SCORE racing by being the first Side-by-Side to finish the Baja 500. You may have seen the feature we ran on his RZR in our April '09 issue. His four-man team including himself and Phil Holdsworth as drivers, and Jason Spiess and Derek Tungmala as navigators, finished third in the Baja 1000 despite a couple accidents and challenges. The finish made Polaris side-by-sides the only vehicles to finish the Baja 250, 500 and 1,000; with a Ranger RZR finishing the 500 and 1000 this year, and Matt Parks' 2007 history-making finish of the Baja 250 in a Polaris Ranger XP.
