There’s no question the Ford SVT Raptor is one of the most popular vehicles to date, and in the off-road community, it’s the best out of the box wheeler you can currently buy. Hennessey Performance has been one of the leaders in modification when it comes to the Raptor, offering their 600 horsepower supercharged VelociRaptor to the masses. Now Hennessey Performance has just announced the release of their one of a kind VelociRaptor SUV conversion that is geared for those who need more seating room than the factory SVT Raptor can offer.

The VelociRaptor SUV is based on the Ford F150 Raptor super crew and is built to carry eight people comfortably through the backcountry. Although the VelociRaptor SUV is based on the Raptor, Hennessey Performance says they are not built to go out and prerun the Baja peninsula with the whole team; they are designed to get through mild dirt roads in relative comfort.

“Don’t plan on pre-running Baja or negotiating Rubicon with our SUV – that is not why we built it”, said company founder, John Hennessey. But if you’re looking for the ultimate vehicle to drive from Aspen to Telluride in January, the VelociRaptor SUV would be perfect.”

So how much does the damage come out to if you want to cart along the whole family out to the desert? How does $149,500 sound for just the base VelociRaptor SUV? Yeah, it’s a bit expensive; until you realize the amount of work it took Hennessey Performance to adapt Excursion barn doors as well as the rear hatch, roofline, etc. onto the VelociRaptor SUV body. Granted this will only get you the 411 horsepower 6.2L V-8 from the Raptor but for a few more greenbacks you can get the VelociRaptor 600 SUV that puts out 600 horsepower to get you moving through the dirt roads at a nice pace.

Aside from that, Hennessey Performance also offers a Brembo front brake upgrade as well as larger wheels and tires and LED lighting upgrades. Since the VelociRaptor SUV is 600 pounds heavier than the SVT Raptor Super Crew, the Brembo brake upgrade is probably the way to go if ordering this long travel family wheeler, especially if you get the VelociRaptor 600 SUV since it will do 0-60 in just 5.9 seconds!

The Hennessey VelociRaptor SUV can be ordered directly from Hennessey Performance or through select Hennessey or Ford dealers. http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/
