VWerks’ Ram Baja KTS Debuts at SEMA
We recently got a firsthand look at VWerks’ new Ram Baja KTS Series at the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada. VWerks says it designed the Ram Baja KTS to merge high-speed desert-racing technology with jaw- dropping looks as well as daily-driver comfort. The Ram Baja KTS is available in two different stages: The Ram KTS series was designed to cross any terrain at wide-open throttle while the Ram Baja is aimed at truck enthusiasts who want the KTS’s menacing looks and stance but don’t need a long-travel race-ready suspension.

The VWerks Ram Baja KTS is based off a 2009-2013 Ram 1500 and features a KORE Tactical Series suspension, KTS front and rear fenders, 17-inch matte-black Method Race Wheels, BFGoodrich Baja T/A race tires, Flowmaster performance cat-back exhaust, and VWerks badging. Additional options include KTS front bumper with lightbar, Baja Designs light sets and mounts, KTS rear tire carrier, VWerks rear floor mats, and deluxe leather seats with VWerks logos. For those who don’t need a desert-ready truck but are looking for a mildly aggressive truck, VWerks has the Ram Baja that features a 1.75-inch leveling kit, 20-inch KMC XD Black Monster Wheels, BFGoodrich tires, DTS front and rear fenders, and, of course, VWerks badging.

Lucas Oil Extends Off-Road Expo Title Sponsorship
Lucas Oil Products has agreed to extend its title sponsorship of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo powered by General Tire all the way through 2015. The event, produced by The Promotion Co. Inc./Family Events of Indianapolis, Indiana, is held annually in October at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. Lucas Oil has been the title sponsor of the Off-Road Expo since Family Events took over the event three years ago.

Known as the event “where the off-road nation comes together,” the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo is the premier trade event for the off-road aftermarket industry. The show is open to the public and attended by thousands of enthusiasts who head to the Pomona Fairplex to check out the latest and greatest products every October.

“We have truly enjoyed being the title sponsor of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo for the past three years,” said Robert Patison, Lucas Oil Products’ executive vice president. “It’s a weekend when everyone who is anyone in the off-road industry assembles to share with the public and each other their latest products and innovations. Add to that the extensive exposure for our Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series through the exhibition track at the expo and we feel that through this event we are able to visibly demonstrate our leadership in the important off-road community. We are pleased to continue our sponsorship through 2015.”

More than 60,000 off-road fans attended the 2012 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo powered by General Tire at the Pomona Fairplex. The 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo powered by General Tire will take place the weekend of October 5-6, 2013, at the Pomona Fairplex.

Source Interlink Media Presents Check to Carroll Shelby Foundation
This past summer, Source Interlink Media honored Carroll Shelby, one of the automotive world’s most beloved icons, by unveiling a special tribute magazine and limited-edition hardbound coffee table book, produced under the direction of Motor Trend magazine with assistance from the editors of Automobile, Hot Rod, Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords, and Mustang Monthly magazines. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the magazine and book will benefit the Carroll Shelby Foundation, established by Shelby to provide financial support for children battling life-threatening illnesses and to promote continuing education.

On Wednesday, October 31, 2012, Chris Argentieri, president of Source Interlink Media, presented Executive Director Jenni Shreeves of the Carroll Shelby Foundation with a check from proceeds generated from the sale of these two special publications. In addition, Donald Farr, editor of Mustang Monthly, shared some of his personal stories about working with the legendary Shelby throughout his career.

The special 132-page magazine tribute features stories about the legend himself, along with original articles reprinted from vintage issues of Motor Trend, Hot Rod, Sports Car Graphic, and Automobile magazines. They also contain editorial pieces about Shelby’s companies, including the 50th anniversary of Shelby American Inc. and the establishment of the Carroll Shelby Foundation, printed alongside a variety of incredible images enthusiasts won’t find anywhere else.
