21 Years In The Making
The Jefferson Avenue North Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan celebrated the five millionth vehicle to roll off its assembly line yesterday. A silver 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland was the lucky vehicle to take this honor which was only fitting being that the Plant first opened in 1992 and celebrated the production of the very first 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
In the past, JNAP built the Jeep Commander, and is currently home to the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango. Fifty JNAP employees with over 30 years of experience with the plant were on the assembly room floor to witness the five millionth vehicle roll off the plant’s assembly line. The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland was driven into the staging area and parked right next to its predecessor, a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
21 years of solid production is a pretty impressive feat especially considering that many businesses have been struggling these past few years but Jeep seems to be forging ahead with the number one SUV in the industry.
Jeep will be donating this very special 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee to the USO as a symbol of Jeep’s commitment to supporting our troops.
