GM Recalls 2012-2013 Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HDPosted in News on January 6, 2014 Comment (0)
Nearly 9,500 6.6-liter Duramax diesel 2012-2013 Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD dual fuel tank chassis cab trucks, built from April 1, 2012 through May 31, 2013, are set for a recall from General Motors. The problem? A defect in the fuel transfer pump between the rear fuel tank the front fuel tank. The consequences? Inaccurate fuel readings, Service Engine Soon light illumination, reduced engine power, and unexpected stalling. An inaccurate fuel reading means your brand new truck resembles your sled pull project, and that’s just annoying. Unexpected stalling increases the risk of crashing, AAA tows, coffee spilling, and frequent outbursts of impatient frustration. And you don’t have time for that. Apparently a design change by the supplier resulted in thermal expansion and contraction damaging a diode, causing pump failure. Although a date for the recall has not been set, GM dealers will handle the fuel transfer pump problem free of charge. The recall number is 13420; owners can contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC at 1-800-462-8782.
