Red Kap, the world’s largest automotive apparel manufacturer, has signed Baja off-road racing champion “Ballistic” BJ Baldwin and just in time for this weekend’s big race in Las Vegas. Baldwin will debut the Red Kap logo on his race truck affectionately referred to as "Fedor" at the 2014 General Tire Mint 400 race this weekend. The Baldwin Motorsports crew will be outfitted with select Red Kap apparel for the 2014 race season so you can be sure to find the Baldwin Motorsports crew racing and wrenching in the desert while wearing some of Red Kap's latest cuts.
Red Kap's plan is to remain the leader of automotive apparel so they are gearing up for an intriguing brand launch in 2014 and 2015 so it’s no surprise they would sign one of the biggest names in off-road racing. Good, Bad or indifferent, you can always rest assured that Baldwin will end up at the forefront of off-road racing’s biggest news stories.
“BJ Baldwin is a passionate, talented off-road racer with a driven spirit to perform. His ambitious character and unique style makes him a natural fit to represent the Red Kap brand. As we continue to focus on the development of performance features specifically for the automotive industry, we are excited to have Baldwin Motorsports put our products to the test in the world of off-road racing.” said Chris Holcombe, Red Kap’s Vice President and General Manager of Distributor Brands.
Baldwin’s racing record has earned him two consecutive Baja 1000 wins as well as a few SCORE championships (2013, 2012, 2009), BITD championship and even a King of the Desert title. Baldwin has also earned himself a Mint 400 win, as well as first place finishes in the SCORE Baja 500, San Felipe 250, BITD Silver State 300, Parker 425 and the Bluewater Desert Challenge.
“This year is going to be a great race season for Baldwin Motorsports. I have been training all year preparing for this season and my team is excited to add Red Kap to our team.” said BJ Baldwin, Monster Energy Trophy Truck Racer.
With any luck, Baldwin might be able to race through the field of 55 Trophy Trucks but he’ll have his work cut out for him this weekend especially considering he’ll have to make it past Robby Gordon who qualified inside the Top 3 spots. One thing’s for sure, if the Baldwin Motorsports crew can manage a win, they’ll be able to celebrate in their newfound threads courtesy of Red Kap.
