Expect a third Cars movie.

GM has a new wind tunnel. It’s technically of the reduced-scale variety. It’s also technically in broken-ground phase. By the way, it’s a $30-million broken-ground phase.

Enterprise surveyed, people answered: 50 percent experienced new automotive technology for the first time through a rental car. About 40 percent said they added features or tech to the new vehicle they bought after having experienced it in a rental.

Spring is here and you know what that means! No, not that. We mean a Chevy Silverado put behind center field at Comerica Park in Detroit since Chevy is the official vehicle of Major League Baseball.

Driving under the influence of alcohol was considered by 86 percent of teens to be very distracting. But driving behavior and driving under the influence is where differences showed, like 68 percent who admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol said they have done so after having more than three drinks. Designated driver to 21 percent meant it was OK if “a little” alcohol or other drugs had been consumed. as long as they weren’t too impaired to drive.

New Jeep Concepts from Mopar
Mopar is now a Jeep-concept-churning-out machine when the annual Easter Jeep Safari happens in Moab each year. Here’s a look at the 2014 edition of concepts.

1. Jeep Wrangler Level Red
It’s named after level-red trails—the hard ones. This concept sports Jeep Performance Parts parts such as a 2-inch lift kit, Dana 44 crate axles, Rock-Trac T-case with 4:1 low range, and rock rails. Those are prototype 17x8 beadlock wheels.

2. Jeep Wrangler MOJO
More showcasing of Jeep Performance parts, such as a set of locking Dana 44 axles and 2-inch lift, plus a 59:1 crawl ratio. Prototype shorty bumpers and flat-top fenders are what you might have also noticed.

3. Jeep Wrangler Maximum Performance
The items here include the Jeep Performance Parts push-button electric-locking Dana 60 axles, 4.88 gearing, and 4:1 Rock-Trac T-case. The crawl ratio? 70:1. There’s also a prototype 4-inch lift kit and Stinger front bumper.

4. Jeep Grand Cheroke EcoDiesel Trail Warrior
You got it: Grand + EcoDiesel + …not much. It’s got a few prototype parts, such as the Mopar roof basket and 20-inch cast-aluminum wheels. Otherwise, it’s a rolling billboard for accessories available from Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts.

5. Jeep Cherokee Dakar
Guess a Cherokee had to make the cut. There were a couple concepts, but this one we found to be the most mock-worthy, since Mopar called it “the most extreme Cherokee ever.” What was the next sentence after that? “The Silver Satin Gloss exterior skin is strikingly set off with a prototype Flame Red graphics…” You’ve read enough.

What’s Happening In The Industry
The Rugged Ridge Trail Access Program has provided its first six grants (more than $27,000 total) for keeping recreational trails open on public land and for supporting off-roading. The grants went to the Blue Ribbon Coalition, Colorado Association of 4WD Clubs, Colorado OHV Coalition, New Mexico OHV Association, Off-Road Business Association, and Stay the Trail.

Goodyear has a new blimp that’s faster, bigger, and more maneuverable than previous models. On a test flight, with a tail wind, it went more than 80 mph.

Four Wheeler App
Go to the iTunes store. Don’t bother with music or games once you get there. Go directly to the Four Wheeler app and download it, because you’ll get way more than your money’s worth than with that music or game. You can read about tech, features, products, vehicles, news, and more. It’ll give you game, and will be music to your ears. See what we did there?

Is It True?
The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been named the Official Winter Vehicle of New England every year since 2011? So if you don’t have one, it’s not officially winter for you?

To build the ’15 Ford F-150, engineers did 500 aggressive starts on a stand that creates impacts of about 2,000 lb-ft of torque? And dropped 55-gallon drums into the bed at an angle?

The exterior is all black, including the 20-inch aluminum wheels and grille. Unless you get the Cummins, all badging is removed (on the diesel version the diesel designation remains visible). Pricing starts at $42,140.

Your Government At Work
