Ultimate Adventure is our official summer camp off-road trip where we take a few readers, sponsors and cronies and go out wheeling for a week in the unknown. The location is always kept a secret until the last minute and nobody other than General Rick Pewe knows where we’re headed every day. You might be running some slippery mud hill trails, crawling over large boulders, carving through sand dunes or hitting the road for a 700 plus mile drive. Yup, Ultimate Adventure is a mystery up until the final day so it’s no surprise you need rig that is capable of handling grueling off-road action as well as prolonged road miles.
Every year we build a lead rig for Ultimate Adventure and this year, Editor-In-Chief Fred Williams got to finally build his old 1990 Dodge Cummins Diesel Tug Truck with the help of the guys at Pacific Fabrication in Gillroy, California.
Building an old military Tug into a competent wheeling rig is no easy task, especially not in 9 days but somehow Fred and the guys at Pacific Fabrication were able to get the job done in time to roll out to the start of Ultimate Adventure somewhere in Nebraska.
Check out the video to see how we built up the gnarliest Dodge Diesel wheeling rig around and be sure to tune in next week to catch all the Ultimate Adventure action on the Motor Trend Channel!
