With the Toyota Tacoma’s first redesign in a decade the 2016 Tacoma is adding a touch of flair to the new truck with a GoPro action camera mount coming standard. After controlling nearly 60 percent of the mid-size truck market the previous year, Toyota has to compete with the all-new 2015 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon.
The GoPro mount is a way to appeal to the off-road and adventure enthusiast in a low cost way. Toyota Tacoma’s Chief Engineer, Michael Sweers says, “These true off-roaders are out there and they all have GoPros on their trucks, whether they’re fishing, off-roading, camping and so on, they’re all recording their adventures.”
With more people recording their travels, adventures, and general shenanigans, the addition of a factory GoPro mount is a great addition to a fresh new truck. With the resurgence in the mid-size truck market we hope to see more cool features that are beneficial to the wheeler in all of us.
The camera mount comes standard on all 2016 Tacoma models, but the GoPro does not come with the truck, 2016 models will hit Toyota dealerships this fall offering one more feature to entice buyers.
