Luxury SUVs that were made for wheeling aren’t new; the Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes-Benz G-550, and Range Rover have been around for years with the latter winning our 2014 Fourwheeler of the Year award. Bentley has recently entered the SUV market with their new Bentayga SUV for 2017 and they are showing what their 12-cylinder 4x4 can do in the rough terrain of Spain.
The Bentley Bentayga will feature the all-new W12 TSI engine backed by an eight-speed transmission giving drivers well over 550 hp and more that 531 lb-ft of torque. The Bentayga offers four off-road modes, snow/wet, gravel, mud and sand which change ride height, throttle response, traction, and transmission shift patterns. We don’t expect this $200,000 SUV to take you as far off-road as a Jeep but it will get you quite far while you’re surrounded in the finest materials available.
While the Bentley Bentayga may be out of the price range of most wheelers, it’s still cool to see the ultra-luxury road car manufactures get involved in the off-road market. The 2017 Bentley Bentayga is sure to be a head turner on the trail, but we’ll have to wait until the official on-sale date is announced. Until then check out the Bentayga tackling the trails in Northern Spain.
