2-Door Tahoe
Vehicle: 1995 Chevy Tahoe
Owner: Harry Gage
Tires & Wheels: 295/70R17 Mastercraft Courser MXTs on 17x9 XD 807 Strikes
Suspension: RCD 6-inch lift
Drivetrain: Stock, 3.73 gears
Performance Mods: K&N CAI and TB spacer
Other Doodads: Lund visors front and rear, Smittybilt Nerf Steps
Does Everything Work the Way You Want?: For now, yes
Funniest Wheeling Incident: Went to go through what I thought was a shallow puddle. I got half way and dropped down almost to the top of the tires. Tried to back out. That was a no-go. I stuck it in Second and gunned it. She clawed her way out with no issues. If it had gotten stuck I would have never heard the end of it.
Anything You Would Change?: Dana 60 front SAS, 14-bolt rear, rebuild/replace motor, go to a 4.56 or 4.88 gear ratio with 35x12.5s, N-Fab bars, new bumpers ‬‬‬

Clunky XJ
Vehicle: 1995 Jeep XJ Cherokee
Owner: Brad Shawger, Great Mills, MD
Tires & Wheels: 33x12.5R15 Interco TrXus on 15x8 Series 900 Viper Tungstens,
Suspension: Rough Country 6 1/2-inch long arm, shackle relocation kits, Daystar 1 3/4-inch spring spacers
Drivetrain: AX-15 transmission, NP231 transfer case, Advance Adapters SYE, Tom Woods driveshafts, Dana 30 front axle, Ford 8.8 rear axle, 31-spline with disc brakes, ARB Air Locker, 4.56 Yukon gears, Solid diff covers
Performance Mods: Ported 63mm throttle body, 2001 Cherokee intake manifold, Flowmaster 50 Series muffler
Steering: AGR Super Box 2 and pump, Borgeson steering shaft, Crown heavy-duty linkage, JKS unibody steering brace system, Boostwerks steering brace, Rubicon Express sway bar relocation brackets
Other Doodads: Warn M8000 winch, ARB twin air compressor, Viair 2-gallon air tank, instrument cluster from 1993 XJ with LED conversion, Hanson front bumper, Bushwacker fender flares, KC Slimlite driving lights, Lund windshield visor
Does It Work the Way You Want?: Very happy with all of the mods that I’ve done so far. Despite the name, Clunky is very reliable and has conquered everything I’ve tasked it with.
Anything You Would Change?: 35-inch Goodyear MT/Rs, Dana 44 high-pinion front axle with ARB, Super 88 Kit, hydro assist, rear tire carrier, cage.
Funniest Wheeling Incident: Had a great day at Yellowcreek, Ohio, only to have the front driveshaft seize up at 60 mph and split my transfer case halfway into the 7-hour drive back home. The car behind me was not happy with his oil bath—but he probably shouldn’t have been tailgating me.
Anything to Add?: My girlfriend says that it makes too many noises, but after a few off-road adventures she is slowly warming up to Clunky. The 5-speed makes wheeling a little tougher, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Feisty 4Runner
Vehicle: 1985 Toyota 4Runner

Texas Classic

Drivetrain: 4.0L I-6, AW4 transmission, NP231 transfer case, Dana 30 front axle, Chrysler 8 1/4 rear axle
Other Doodads: Removed rear hatch, gutted interior, trimmed fenders
Does It Work the Way You Want?: Mostly, surprisingly capable
Anything You Would Change?: Cage, harnesses, lockers, snorkel
Funniest Wheeling Incident: Running out of gas in the middle of my buddy’s pond . . . in December.
Anything to Add?: Love the XJ. Amazingly capable off-road, pretty tame on the highway, and very affordable.
