Caterpillar D8 Dozer vs. 20 Toyota Land Cruisers in Tug-of-War - VideoPosted in News on August 11, 2015
We don’t know if we love classic Toyota Land Cruisers or badass diesel powered dozers more, but this group of off-road enthusiasts from Germany found a way to have fun with both. When 20, that’s right, twenty Toyota J30s and J40s lined up to battle a Caterpillar D8 bulldozer in a tug-of-war competition, our interest was peaked.
Although the power that the 1955-1980 Toyota Land Cruisers produced individually was not all that impressive, 90-125 hp respectively, when working together this group produced a combined power output somewhere between 1800 – 2500 hp. The heavy equipment Caterpillar was building in the 1960-1980s wasn’t powerful by today’s standards, but assuming this D8 dozer was of the same era as the Land Cruisers it would have between 300 – 335 available horsepower.
With the dozer and Land Cruisers hooked up to an I-beam it was time to see who would win the tug-of-war between the Cat and the twenty J30s and J40s.
