Honda just announced it will be making its return to off-road racing on 4-wheels for the 2015 SCORE Baja 1000 this November and continue racing into 2016. This is the first time Honda will tackle the desert in a 4-wheeled vehicle since they ran a class 6 Honda Pilot in 2012. Honda factory racing will take-on the world’s most famous desert race with an unlimited vehicle powered by Honda Performance Development (HPD), the racing arm of Honda Motor Company.
Honda is keeping specs and images close to the vest teasing only two photos while giving out engine, transmission and shock info. The race vehicle will be powered by a twin-turbocharged Honda HR35TT V6 engine backed by an Albins ST6 sequential transmission while running Fox Racing shocks part of the suspension and using General Grabber tires for traction.
Honda plans on releasing more information in the days leading up to the 2015 SCORE Baja 1000, which is set to take place November 19-21st. For more information on Honda Performance Development visit them at hpd.honda.com.
