Legislation Introduced to Allow Turn-Key Replicas to be PurchasedPosted in News on August 27, 2015
With the help of the SEMA Action Network (SAN) Legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Congress that would allow companies to produce turn-key replica cars nationwide. House Resolution (H.R.) 2675 would benefit consumers and companies that offer kit cars by letting manufactures offer complete vehicles for sale while still selling kits and parts for hobbyists that want the experience of building a replica.
Kit cars sold today usually resemble classic cars 25 years or older and are either sold as a group of parts you have to put together, or as a rolling chassis without a drivetrain. Many states currently have laws on the books that allow for replica cars to be titled and registered by the model year they most closely resemble, which in some states and municipalities can be quite a feat. H.R. 2675 would alleviate a one-size-fits all method of regulation on car manufactures and allow smaller car manufactures to sell complete vehicles to consumers that don’t have the time or technical know how to build a complete vehicle.
SAN is asking that you contact you Congressional representative today and ask for their support of H.R. 2675 and the hobbyist automotive industry. You can look up your representative at semasan.com/lookup.com and send a copy of that letter to Eric Snyder at firstname.lastname@example.org. Together we can let it be known how big the automotive enthusiasts industry is while allowing cooler custom vehicles to be seen on the road.
