In episode 43 of Dirt Every Day Fred and Dave get started on their apocalyptic 4x4 creation, the Mad-Maxxis Off-Road Runner. Starting with a well-worn and rusty 1973 Plymouth Road Runner and the ridiculous idea of stuffing a new 5.0L Cummins turbo diesel backed by an ATS Diesel Allison 1000 between the frame rails, the guys got to work.

If putting a V8 diesel engine into a car wasn’t crazy enough the Plymouth is going to be sitting on 35-inch Maxxis Razor tires and converted to four-wheel drive! To turn this 2WD road car into a 4x4 dirt eating machine, a transfer case will be added and a Dana 60 axle stuffed under the front-end.

To make this happen the cutting began right away removing the old drivetrain and suspension, while adding a sub frame and completely new front frame section. Watch what happens as these two crazy dirt lovers get to work on this classic Mopar and get it ready for its first journey off-road!
