With the popularity of off-road rally events growing in the United States Rebelle Rally has announced its plans for a women’s off-road auto navigation rally that will take place in 2016. The inaugural event will take place October 13-22, 2016 staring in Lake Tahoe, NV and finishing at the Del Mar Race Track in Southern California. The rally will feature a 7-day trek covering public dirt roads, trails and sand dunes across the Western United States.
The Rebelle Rally is not a race, it is a competition based on navigation skills and driving precision. The 10 day format will feature 7-days of competition with difficult to find checkpoints while only using maps, roadbook notes, and a compass to navigate. GPS and Internet enabled devices are forbidden testing the navigational skills of each team. Course route and check point locations will be given just prior to the event making prerunning the routes impossible.
The Rally will feature teams made up of two women driving street-legal and stock SUVs, trucks or crossovers that love to drive and are always looking for an adventure. Emily Miller, the rally owner and coordinator, said, “My goal is for women to sharpen and refine their capabilities and build the confidence and skill set to take on future journeys – wherever they may lead.” With that goal in-mind both novice and professional drivers are encouraged to enter and will be required to take a provided on-line navigation course and provide prior off-road driving experience or take a 4x4 driving course before competing.
With a combination of challenging tasks, the Rebelle Rally is a well-rounded event featuring demanding competition, base camps in different locations, a night of self-camping, awesome food, and live webcasts before finishing with a formal celebration. If this sounds like an event you would like to take part in got to www.rebellerally.com for more information. Registration opens December 15, 2015 and space is limited to 60 teams and registration will be closed after that.
