Chevrolet Reintroduces Midnight Edition Silverado, Joins Colorado and HD in ChicagoPosted in News on February 9, 2016
Chevrolet is bringing back the Silverado 1500 Midnight Edition, renewed for the 2016 model year and sporting the truck’s updated appearance. Joining the Colorado Z71 Midnight Edition and Silverado 2500 HD Z71 Midnight Edition, Chevrolet now offers three different sizes of its all-black appearance package.
As before the Silverado Midnight comes with black side moldings, beltline trim, a body-colored front grille and bumper, black headlight bezels and tow hooks, black wheels, and black front and rear Chevrolet bowtie logos. Obviously, the only paint color available is black. (How many times can you use the word “black” before it loses all meaning?)
The Midnight Edition is only available for the Z71 trim levels of the Colorado, Silverado 1500, and Silverado HD, so customers get that package’s associated off-road hardware. Electronic locking differentials, Goodyear Wrangler tires, and off-road suspension tuning will greet the owners when they pick up their new rides.
The company has seen great success with their Midnight Edition pickups. “They clearly resonated with buyers, as the special editions sold in one-third the time, and to younger, more affluent buyers than the industry average,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet truck marketing director. “The Silverado 1500 Midnight was by far the most popular model in 2015, as demand outstripped supply in a matter of months.”
We’ve driven various iterations of the Midnight Edition, and we really like the value and custom-truck appearance they offer. And sales numbers don’t lie, so it’s clear the buying public agrees with us.
