Off-road badass Robby Gordon will start the 2016 Best In The Desert Parker 425 in the first position after his ridiculously fast qualifying run this past week. Gordon’s qualifying time of 4 minutes and 24 seconds was the fastest in a field filled with 62 other talented off-road racers, just edging out Apdaly Lopez by 3.3 seconds.
Gordon’s 2016 has been an eventful one having competed in the 2016 Dakar Rally in South America with his Gordini race truck and then raced in the famed King of The Hammers off-road event on February 5, in his artic Cat Wildcat X. He will race Parker in his easy-to-spot #77 SPEED Energy truck and hopes to not have mechanical issues that plagued him last year leading to a DNF.
The Parker 425 features some of the toughest and harshest terrain through northern Arizona that will challenge drivers mentally and physically, as well as their trucks. Last years winner, Gary Weyhrich, took over seven hours to finish the course, proving how grueling this racecourse is.
