This year stated off with a bang for the 4x4 and truck market, with announcements from the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit that got every off-roader excited. We decided to recap the five biggest stories from January in case you missed any of the exciting information when it first broke.
There was a lot of hype around the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, was it body-on-frame? Was it rear-wheel drive? Did it have a transfer case? We wanted all the answers to these questions to be yes. Unfortunately, they weren’t, but that doesn’t mean the second generation Ridgeline won’t be cool. It packs the unique features the first generation had that we loved, like the dual-action tailgate and in-bed lockable trunk.
The North American International Auto Show was packed with plenty of big announcements from OE manufactures across the globe. We stayed on top of all the relevant news and walked the show floor to show you the latest trucks, SUVs, and 4x4s from all the top manufactures.
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor wasn’t a secret, but we hadn’t seen the SuperCrew version until Detroit, and it didn’t disappoint. This all-new Raptor is going to be something special, and judging by the feedback, you guys think so too.
We confirmed that a Jeep Wrangler pickup was going to be built earlier in 2015. What we didn’t know is when it would be available. While we were in Detroit, we spoke with Jeep’s Mike Manley, and he was able to release this awesome piece of information, and you guys got excited!
Nissan didn’t roll into 2016 slowly. They unveiled the Titan XD Warrior concept in Detroit and lit the Internet on fire. This killer Titan XD features nearly everything you would want from a pickup -- long travel suspension, luxurious interior, functional bed, 37-inch tires, and a powerful Cummins Engine.
We hope Nissan adds this sweet Titan to their truck lineup because we would campout at the dealer to get our hands on one!
