Leave it to the Russians to build an amphibious ATV that can make it to some of the most remote locations on earth. The SHERP ATV might be one of the coolest off-road rigs we’ve seen and definitely want to import on to the United States.
This badass two-person (or four if your rear passengers don’t care if they have seatbelts) ATV has massive tires made to traverse any terrain and even propel this beast through water. A simple skid-steer system allows SHERP to turn on a dime and maneuver over or around any surface with ease. The approach and departure angles on this ATV are extremely aggressive, which means no boulder, tree, or smaller ATV will stand in your way.
The SHERP ATV is powered Kubota V1505-t diesel engine and backed by a five-speed gearbox. It’s no rocket ship; it only has 44 hp and a top speed of 28 mph on land and 4 mph on water, but it can carry over 2,000 pounds of cargo anywhere you want to go. With a 15-gallon tank you can have plenty of fun but will need to carry fuel, unless you upgrade to four more 15 gallon tanks that are integrated into the wheels, giving you 60 more gallons of diesel to travel with.
As with most off-road rigs, simple is better, and the SHERP ATV is an excellent example of that. With analog gauges and controls two batteries, a simple hand brake, and a standard heater, there is very little that can fail. It appears that this awesome ATV is only available in Russia right now, but you can bet if we can get our hands on one, we will be testing it. Until we can find one in the states, watch these SHERP ATVs having a blast on the frozen terrain of Russia!
