The Mercedes-Benz Unimog may be one of the coolest 4x4 rig ever built and is most certainly very recognizable. After checking out what the guys at had for sale this week (you know, because we are always looking for another project), we found this 1975 Mercedes-Benz Unimog Doka (a.k.a. double cab) U900 for sale on craigslist.

The German military first commissioned this Unimog as a tug truck for aircrafts before Classic Unimogs in Germany restored it. After an excellent restoration, it was imported into the United States in 2001 to Colorado where it spent several years exploring the trails of Utah and Colorado.

This 4x4 has everything you need go anywhere you can think of. With a 5.7L OM352 Mercedes diesel putting out 110 hp, shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual transmission, good luck getting stuck. With a unique two-speed low range, four-speed high range, and a torque converter, this Unimog can crawl anywhere and is nearly impossible to stall.

With 88,000 miles on the engine, this diesel has barely broken in, which means it’s ready to burn oil on your local trail. This U900 won’t be winning any races as it tops out at 52 mph, but there isn’t much that will get in your way.

The seller of this sweet Unimog is asking $49,500 for their green machine. For more information or to contact the seller, check out
