The Jeep Wagoneer is classic Jeep built to explore with friends and family in tow, there are few things in life that are more enjoyable than loading up the rig and hitting the road for an awesome adventure. On the latest episode of Dirt Every Day, Fred Williams gets his hands on a 1972 Jeep Wagoneer that’s been sitting in a barn for 13 years and gets it ready for a snow-filled adventure to Crater Lake in Oregon.
After getting a tip from about the Wagoneer in Washington, Fred brought some his friend Bruce to help get the old girl in road worthy shape. With a check list of what needs to be replaced for the tune up, Fred and Bruce got to work in the brisk garage. With new fuel, spark plugs, wires, belts, filters, and fluids, the rig was nearly ready to start the journey. Planning ahead, Fred knew to make sure the Warn 8274 was in working condition, so a new steel line and Ultimate Hook from Warn meant they could pull themselves out of trouble.
Once the checklist was double-checked, Fred and Bruce fired up the AMC 360ci V-8 and were ready to hit the road … well almost. After the Wagoneer was loaded with everything need for a road trip, including two more passengers, a quick stop to Discount Tire was necessary to replace the decades old tires with a set of BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires for improved traction and safety.
After a quick tire upgrade it was off to play in the snow, and it didn’t quiet go as planned. The snow turned out to be deeper than it looked, so out came the winch for some self-recovery, to no avail. Luckily a fellow snow lover was there to rescue the Wagoneer and crew from a frigid demise. After the gang was back on solid ground, it was off to see the majestic Crater Lake.
