Nitto has been making extremely capable and durable tires that thrive in the dirt and on the street, and the company’s impressive Grappler lineup of light-truck tires just got a new addition: the Ridge Grappler. This hybrid tire combines the off-road performance of a traditional mud-terrain with the ride quality and handling of an all-terrain. With an aggressive, yet quiet, tread pattern, a unique and beefy sidewall, a hybrid tread pattern and an available F load rating, the Ridge Grappler was built for rig that does it all.
With several new features, the Ridge Grappler has everything needed to tackle extreme terrain. Those features include a reinforced block foundation for reduced flex of the tread blocks, alternating shoulder grooves to clear mud, stone ejectors to prevent damage from stone drilling, and a unique lateral Z-Groove center tread pattern that provide excellent biting edges for traction.
Thanks to the F-load rating, and ability to run 80 PSI , they can be installed on an HD truck and not lose any towing capability. The Ridge Grappler isn’t replacing any tires currently in the Nitto Grappler lineup but rather adding an option for the SUV, 1/2-ton, 3/4 and 1-ton truck guy that tows to and tackles the trail.
The Ridge Grappler is built for more than towing, so it’s packing everything an A/T style tire needs. The variable pitch tread pattern allows for a smooth and quiet highway ride and coupling end points strengthen tread block and help prevent uneven wear.
With an edgy M/T appearance, the on-road performance of a traditional A/T and two different sidewall choices, the new Ridge Grappler packs a ton of features into a multi-purpose tire. We will be testing a set of the new Ridge Grappler tires from Nitto shortly, so look for a full review on fourwheeler.com. For more information about the Ridge Grappler, visit nittotire.com.
