With the snow melted and the days getting longer, now’s the perfect time to get your rig out to the trail, and the upcoming 49th annual Sierra Trek is a perfect place to flex your suspension. Put on by the team at Cal4Wheel, this four-day event is perfect for the whole family and offers guided tours on trails from mild to wild through the spectacular Tahoe National Forest.
If you’re running a stock, 4x4 Cal4Wheel has put together three awesome runs that will offer light wheeling action and beautiful scenery. The Wednesday/Thursday overnight run, the Historic Run on Saturday, and the Outer Limits Run on Sunday are all perfect for the family to enjoy the terrain of the Sierras without having to worry about breaking your rig.
For modified rigs, Cal4Wheel has a few challenging trails for you to wheel as well. The Bear Valley Loop will test the upgrades to your Jeep and your skill, and the Outer Limits Run on Saturday will have you mesmerized by the beauty of the Tahoe national Forest and let you stretch the suspension.
If you’re rig is built, then Cal4Wheel will be taking you on the extremely challenging Fordyce Trail. Tires 35-inches or larger and a locker are required, but front and rear lockers, crawler gearing, and larger tires are recommended to make the Fordyce trail run more enjoyable for everyone. With rocky terrain and technical lines, the Fordyce trail will put you and your 4x4 to the test.
ATV and UTV drivers are welcome to come out too. There will be a day run to Meadow Lake on Saturday, and the surrounding areas will allow you to enjoy wheeling your compact off-road machine.
The family friendly 2016 Sierra Trek is scheduled for August 11-14 at Meadow Lake near Truckee, California. With guided tours through stunning scenery, camping, food, and entertainment this might be the perfect summer wheeling trip. To register and for more information head over to cal4wheel.com.
