Magellan just released their new TRX smartphone app that gives users access to more 80,000 trails for quick and convenient trail navigation with a device you’re likely already carrying, a smartphone. The TRX app allows off-road enthusiasts to access trail maps, trail reviews, trail photos, and myTRXjournal.com before making the jump to the fullsize TRX7 eXplorist tablet-based navigation.
The App is available for iOS and Android completely free and is designed to take advantage of smartphone wireless connectivity. The TRX app allows users to download selected trail maps without wasting precious phone memory, easily take photos on the trail and share them socially, log their dirt miles, find points of interest, mark waypoints, and share their trip to myTRYjournal.com where other users can download the same route. With a database of more than 80,000 trails that keeps growing users will be able to find plenty of trails to explore where ever they wheel.
If you want a more in-depth navigation experience, including visual and audio trail navigation, high-resolution 3D trail maps, and one-touch backtrack that allows for quick and safe navigation back to where you started, you can upgrade to the premium subscription. The premium subscription is costs $34.99 a year and can be upgraded anytime after you download the free app.
