Novice-Friendly “Legends Rally” Coming in September

Off-road legends Larry Ragland, Ivan Stewart, Walker Evans, and Larry Roeseler will lead an all-new rally through the Baja peninsula of Mexico. Launching its inaugural event from September 23 to September 25, The Legends Rally will offer UTV owners and enthusiasts the opportunity to use their own machines (or rent fully prepped ones) on some pretty exciting terrain.

The rally is intended to be a beginner-friendly adventure “to preserve, celebrate, and share the culture of off-roading,” according to Matt Martelli, CEO of Mad Media, a firm helping present the event. “UTVs offer the perfect platform to explore Baja, and our group will provide a fun, safe environment to experience something special with friends, family, and colleagues.”

UTVUnderground and Horsepower Adventures are organizing the event, which will include meals prepared by Michelin star chef Drew Deckman, using locally sourced food and a “slow-food” philosophy. Local winemaker Aldo Santini, Jr. will provide tastings of local beer, tequila, wine, and mezcal to complement Deckman’s and associate chef Claudette Wilkins’ menu.

“The beauty of Southern Baja is really unparalleled in North America, and there’s no better way to experience it than in a UTV with friends and family,” stated Joey DiGiovanni, CEO and founder of UTVUnderground. DiGiovanni claims the best way to experience it is away from the region’s main roads and on its more secluded beaches, mountains, and forests, all of which will be on the rally’s route.

If it were our cash, we think the trip would be worth it for the local tequila alone, but getting to meet legends like Ragland, Stewart, Evans, and Roeseler would be an obvious bonus. The rally includes one full day of trail-riding, along with one day before and after the trip earmarked for travel. Its weekend timing makes it ideal for people who are stuck in an office Monday through Friday and need to get away from it all.
