VIDEO: Rally Car Hits Jump, Avoids Killing World’s Luckiest DogPosted in News on August 29, 2016
It’s a known trope that dogs chase cars, but in this case, the car chased the dog.
One lucky pooch in Bolivia narrowly avoided getting killed by a rally car over the weekend after he wandered onto a road being used for the Rally de Santa Cruz. Initially, the dog seemed unperturbed by his presence on the course until a rally car (a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII, by the looks of it) appeared in the frame. At that, the dog broke into a sprint down the middle of the track, only to be saved at the last possible second. Watch the video below to see it all unfold.
Uruguay’s Fernando Zuasnabar was piloting the rally car, and after rounding the blind corner, he had no choice but to forge straight ahead toward the pooch. Hitting the brakes could have resulted in an out-of-control spin into the crowd of spectators, and the road was too narrow to avoid the dog on either side of the course. Given all the options, the dog should have been doomed, but thanks to that little bump in the road, he’s earned at least a few more days on the planet. Hopefully he’ll avoid roads in the future, if he’s young enough to learn some new tricks.
