Powersports Titan Polaris Buys Transamerican Auto PartsPosted in News on October 12, 2016
Here’s one we didn’t see coming, at least initially. Today, Polaris Industries, the Minnesota-based parent company of the eponymous powersports brand, Indian, and Victory Motorcycles, as well as Taylor-Dunn light commercial vehicles, announced it is purchasing Transamerican Auto Parts, the parent company of 4 Wheel Parts for $665 million. Current Transamerican CEO Greg Adler will remain as the head of the division for the time being.
Transamerican will continue its focus on Jeep, truck, and powersports accessories through its 75 retail outlets, 4wheelparts.com, and parts development with its in-house brands such as Smittybilt, Rubicon Express, G2 Axle & Gear, Pro Comp wheels and tires, LRG Rims, and Poison Spyder.
In retrospect, Transamerican’s prominent display of Polaris RZR parts and accessories at the recent Sand Sports Expo might have given some indication that the companies were working more closely. However, few expected that level of collaboration would be a precursor to an outright acquisition. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of 2016.
