VIDEO - Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic Arrives on Brand’s 30th Anniversary in U.S.

Turning 30 never felt so good.

Land Rover is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its Range Rover sub-brand in the U.S. with the all-new Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic, which arrives in showrooms as you read this. The first Range Rovers, which went on sale here in March 1987, share a profile, a badge, and little else with the SVAutobiography Dynamic.

Departing from the powerful, spacious, and stately long-wheelbase Range Rover SVAutobiography, the SVA Dynamic is only available as a short-wheelbase SUV. The stature change imbues the Dynamic with a bit more handling verve than its big brother, helped in part by active anti-roll bars and adaptive dampers donated from the Range Rover Sport SVR. A lower ride height means the Dynamic is a bit more on-road–biased than most Rovers, but it could still probably embarrass any other luxury crossover on a rough road. Overall, the Dynamic is intended to serve as a 'tweener, filling the white space between a "normal" Range Rover and the whole-hog SVAutobiography.

To celebrate the SVAutobiography Dynamic’s arrival, the good folks at Range Rover put together a short video celebrating the nameplate’s history. Starting in 1969 with the first Range Rover prototypes (badged “Velar” to disguise them) and culminating in the 2017 Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic, the video is a fun way to watch the world’s favorite luxury SUV come of age.

If you’re sold on the brand, stepping into a $171,990 SVA Dynamic saves a small wad of cash compared to the bigger, slightly more exclusive Range Rover SVAutobiography. That SUV costs $200,490, owing to its range-topping status and poverty-mocking long wheelbase.
