Bigger Tires are a Big Help

Since making landfall, Hurricane Harvey has dumped unprecedented amounts of rain on Texas and Louisiana, sending metropolitan and residential areas underwater.

As people come together and begin with rescue efforts, 4 Wheel Parts Houston Assistant Manager Craig Reitenour has organized his own brigade of volunteers. Craig is braving the floodwaters with his personal 4x4, along with other members of the off-road community whose high-clearance rigs can access flooded areas.

“The real hero here is my truck,” Craig wrote on Facebook. “It has worked tirelessly for three days now in bumper-deep water and is still going strong. Just to put the water level in this townhome community in perspective, those are 37-inch tires that you can’t see in the water. Now this area is only accessible by boat.”

Also joining the rescue effort were our 4x4 friends from the popular TV show The Diesel Brothers. After reaching out to their social media followers and gathering donations, David “Heavy D” Sparks and “Diesel Dave” Kiley were able to pack their armada of modified 4x4s full of food, water, and supplies, and transport them to those in need.

For anyone looking to help the recovery in Texas and Louisiana, donations can be made to the American Red Cross. Please, be aware that flooded roads can be a serious hazard, even in a lifted vehicle. Turn around, don’t drown!
