Yokohama and KaBOOM! to Build New Playground in West Point, MSPosted in News on August 2, 2017
Yokohama Tire Corporation, in partnership with KaBOOM!, will build a brand-new, eco-friendly playground for the citizens of West Point, Mississippi, which is the home of Yokohama Tire’s new one-million-square-foot plant that opened in October of 2015.
This isn’t the first time Yokohama has given back to the community. The West Point playground will be the third collaboration between Yokohama Tire Corporation and KaBOOM!, the national non-profit dedicated to ensuring that all kids get a childhood filled with the balanced and active play needed to thrive. The first two playgrounds were built in Southern California and Rockland, Massachusetts.
Yokohama and KaBOOM! won’t be constructing the playground without help. The two partners have recruited the West Point community, along with approximately 200 volunteers from the nearby Yokohama plant to help in erecting the project.
Yokohama and KaBOOM!’s collaboration starts on Aug. 15 when the two companies will meet with local parents and their children to help design the playground. Everything from color schemes to which apparatuses to construct will be discussed in preparation for the Oct. 25 build date.
All parties involved are excited about the joint project. “We appreciate the support of the local community and are happy to give back to the community,” said Alan Holtschneider, Yokohama Tire Corporation’s director of marketing. “We hope this new playground will be a fun place for kids and families in the community and benefit them for years to come.”
