Nissan unveils Star Wars: The Last Jedi inspired Nissan Titan at 2017 Los Angeles Auto ShowPosted in News on November 30, 2017
LOS ANGELES (Nov. 30, 2017) – Today at the Los Angeles Auto Show Nissan unveiled their collection of Star Wars-themed concept vehicles. Their ongoing collaboration with Lucasfilm for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has produced seven show vehicles to highlight Nissan’s dramatic designs and the famous characters and crafts from the upcoming film, debuting in theaters Dec. 15. “We’re back this year collaborating with Lucasfilm and the artists at Industrial Light & Magic to create these amazing concept vehicles across our best-selling models,” said Vice President Jeremy Tucker, Marketing Communications & Media, Nissan North America, Inc. “These seven show vehicles were created for our fans, and will be unveiled at the LA Auto Show and shared across the country in regional auto shows over the next several months.”
Nissan Invited our Truck Trend and Four Wheeler Network staff to have an exclusive look at their 2018 Nissan Titan AT-M6. The AT-M6 is the largest vehicle in the First Order’s arsenal for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, so Nissan fittingly used their largest vehicle, the Titan, for the base of the AT-M6 show vehicle. This Nissan Star Wars collaboration also happens to be the biggest unveiling (in physical size) at this year’s LA Auto Show.
As we approached the garage the Titan AT-M6 was housed in, the metal door rattled with the sounds of an intergalactic battle. Stomping mechanical legs and futuristic gunfire effects created an ominous vibe that gave us the chills and added theatric excitement to the unveiling. As the sounds coming from the Titan’s 5,000-watt exterior audio system grew louder, the garage door slowly rolled up. Directly in front of us sat a stock 2018 Titan, dwarfed by the massive, in size and presence, Titan AT-M6.
The Titan AT-M6 features a massive MegaCaliber cannon affixed to its back and a custom body wrap reminiscent of the film’s massive First Order walker. Wheels receive hydro-dip graphics to mimic a walker’s leg joints, while a six inch lift kit is applied to promote its destructive appearance. Designers insisted on installing a sound system capable of mimicking the walker’s ground-stomping movements, effectively bringing the vehicle to life. An 18-inch bed-mounted subwoofer with a companion surround sound system will produce a planet-thumping 5,000 watts, set to closely capture the reverberation of a First Order walker.
Six other 2018 Nissan Star Wars collaboration vehicles built on the Rogue, Rogue Sport, Altima, and Maxima were developed by artists inside the hallowed offices of Lucasfilm. Their team penned the designs, guiding colors, textures, and graphics pairing the vehicles with a craft or character from the film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Each concept—not available for purchase—receives a unique approach, including extras such as hydro-dipped graphics, surround sound, and aged exterior design to show simulated use in battle. With designs complete, the legendary Hollywood vehicle fabricators at Vehicle Effects in Burbank, California, brought the sketches to life.
