The newest installment of Dirt Every Day is on its way to Motor Trend OnDemand January 8, bringing rock-bouncing goodness courtesy of Fred Williams and Dave Chappelle’s new project, the Rock Viper. Built on a budget, the Rock Viper starts from pretty sturdy bones, but is it tough enough to face the trail?
Underneath the tube-frame architecture of this funky beast are the bones of an old Dodge Ram V-10. And although Dave Chappelle and Fred Williams start the project at home, they know that to really prove any rock bouncer’s reputation, you have to go to the home of the sport, the South. So they head down to Alabama to finish the job.
Big-horsepower, full-throttle rock bouncing is taking over the South faster than kudzu, and Fred and Dave hope their budget build has what it takes to bound around the backwoods. Thanks to their truck’s shared DNA with the wild Dodge Viper, we’d say they might have a fighting chance. Then again, will that temperamental supercar’s unruly nature spell doom for Fred and Dave?
Tune into Motor Trend OnDemand on January 8 to see if the tube-framed, V-10–powered rock buggy has what it takes to hang with the boys in Alabama.
