Can-Am is bringing three new side-by-side models to the UTV market. The three UTVs are designed for specific recreational activities. Can-Am wanted to focus on rockcrawling and mud-riding to expand its footprint in the market. In September of 2015, BRP President and CEO José Boisjoli pledged to unveil a new side-by-side vehicle every six months through the year 2020.
The Maverick Sport X rc is equipped for rockcrawling. The side-by-side features a wider stance and higher ground clearance. There is added exterior and interior protection for harsh environments. The Maverick Sport X rc comes with Can-Am’s exclusive Smart-Lok technology, which allows for locking of the front differential. Can-Am added high-grade Fox shocks, arched A-arms, and larger tires.
For the mud enthusiast, Can-Am released the Maverick Sport X mr and Defender Max X Both vehicles feature the Smart-Lok technology with a special “mud” mode. They come with aggressive ITP mud-terrain tires, a higher ground clearance, and arched A-arms. Some of the more notable features are a snorkeled engine and air intake. Maverick Sport X mr comes with premium half-doors for a more functional performance. The Maverick Sport X mr can accommodate two riders, while the Defender MAX X mr can carry up to six adults with its dual rows of bench seating.
In addition to the three new terrain-specific side-by-sides, Can-Am has revamped the Maverick Sport DPS 1000R. An all-new 2019 model will be available with over 200 accessories at launch. Four riders now fit comfortably in the vehicle. ErgoPrint seats, additional footrests, and grab handles were added to the new model.
