The Unexpected at Camp RZR 2018

While the majority of our news team was at Polaris’ Camp RZR ogling the new 2019 RZR XP Turbo S, we spent the day cruising through Glamis Sand Dunes in search of unique 4x4s. While this isn’t a gallery of dune-hooning goodness, here are some of the treasures we found lurking in the campsites.

DemerBox brought an orange utility machine to the show, we sadly only saw it sitting still and not doing anything extreme.

This is a legitimate dune scooter.

So it didn’t have four-wheel drive, but this buggy sure was a sight.

In a sea of new-fangled sand toys, square body Chevys are always welcome.

We all know TJ Wranglers have two doors, and the TJ Unlimited offered, for a short time, an extended wheelbase, but who can say they wheel a four-door TJ Wrangler? These folks—after combining two Wranglers, adding an Advance Adapter Atlas 2 transfer case, one-ton axles, and 37-inch tires.

Hold on, those aren’t sand paddles!

One more 4x4 that wasn’t rocking a continuously variable transmission.

The Wood Guy brought a 4x4 with an essential dune function—campfire fuel hauling capacity.
