Joe Bacal to Pilot Axalta Ram Trophy Truck at 2018 Baja 1000Posted in News on November 7, 2018
Veteran driver Joe Bacal has been tapped to drive the Axalta Coating Systems Ram Trophy Truck at the 2018 SCORE Baja 1000. Bacal has three Baja 1000 class championships and years of racing experience. Axalta is a global company focused on providing customers with sustainable coating solutions.
The Trophy Truck was built by Arizona-based Geiser Brothers. It features a Ram body, but there is so much more under the hood. The truck is powered by an 850hp engine from Dougan’s Racing. It sits on BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires mounted on KMC Wheels. The Trophy Truck even has ARB recovery gear, should the team face the unexpected in Baja.
"We are extremely excited to enter the off-road desert racing series in this year's SCORE Baja 1000. There is perhaps no better proving ground for our products, and no better way to express our passion for racing." The No. 86 Ram features "Primary Colors," a recognizable paint scheme that can also be found on a number of the Axalta-sponsored competitors in the 14 motorsports series it participates around the world,” said Wade Robinson, Axalta managing director of Motorsports Americas.
Joe Bacal and co-driver Conor Jackson will share driving duties with Jeff and Cory Geiser. Bacal is expected to start the race and drive to race mile 380, where the Geisers will drive to race mile 670. Bacal and Jackson will then bring the truck to the finish line in Ensenada.
