Four Wheeler of the Year 2019 Day 1: Track Attack #FWOTY19Posted in News on December 3, 2018
Don't worry, the dirt is coming. Before we could get dirty, our fleet of five SUVs and four trucks headed to the track, where we could gather empirical data—acceleration and braking tests, ramp travel index scores (RTI), and traction control assessments (read: smoky tires).
RTI scores help us compare how the suspension functions on each vehicle and gives us an idea of what to expect when we go to tackle obstacles on the trail.
Speed and braking tests came next, letting us see which vehicles could get up and off the line the quickest, and bring all that rolling metal back to a halt.
After the hard numbers were gathered, it was off to the highway to stage for the week’s adventures, where we will test the vehicles in all types of off-road terrain including sand, rocks, snow, and slippery hills.
Follow along this week using the hashtag #FWOTY19 on our Facebook and Instagram pages as well as fourwheeler.com as we get increasingly familiar with what our fleet is capable of. We will also be exploring each rig in depth throughout the week with video walkarounds and action shots.
Who will take home the SUV and Pickup Truck of the Year trophies this year? Stay tuned!
