Many celebrities and high-profile drivers have raced the Mint 400. Names like Jay Leno, Rick Mears, Al Unser, Chuck Norris, and Steve McQueen have all been placed on the brag wall. This year Formula 1 driver Jenson Button will try his hand at off-road racing.

Button has a 2009 Formula 1 Championship under his belt. He will team up with Le Mans Champion Chris Buncombe. Managing Director of Singer Porsche Design Mazen Fawaz will also join the team. They will pilot a Brenthel 6100 class truck at the Mint 400.

Button has never raced off-road before so it is expected he will be way out of his element. He spent some time testing in the Brenthel race truck to prepare for the Mint. “This is all new to me! I come to this and it’s totally like a duck out of water,” says Button. He has 30 years of track experience and hopes to find success at the Mint 400 driving off-road in the desert. He admits he has a lot of learning to do before the Mint. The Brenthel brothers have been giving Button driving tips and tricks to conquer the Great American Off-Road Race. Check out the video to see what it’s like for the F1 champ.
