So why is there a coffee bag on Project Ground-Up you may ask? A couple Months back we got the opportunity to run the famed Rubicon Trail again...for the first time in 9 or 10 years. It was an awesome trip, and this trail is without doubt a national treasure. We all need to do what we can to protect this trail from closure. Lets keep it clean and open. Oh yea, back to the bag...Along the way we kept glimpsing a light blue YJ and a guy with a Great Dane (here pictured on the left). Finally near the end of the trail we met the owner of the Jeep Robert Casebeer. Robert lives in South Lake Tahoe, California, and he spends quite a bit of time out on the trail in his Jeep for fun. Robert lives by the creedo of keeping the trail as clean if not cleaner than how you found it. This often includes cleaning up after others. He also had a pretty good and inexpensive idea that helps us all. Robert has a friend who works in the coffee business and Robert asked if he could have any old coffee bags. Robert then takes these coffee bags and hands them out to other Jeepers while out on the Rubicon Trail. The bags are perfect for picking up trash...even that trash left behind by others. Sure, Robert also picks up trash while he is out on the trail, but the bags he hands out also make it easy for others to do this too making the amount of trash gathered much more than any one man could physically collect. Robert, like many, loves the Rubicon. He has many memories of the trail and continues to make new memories there too. He makes a difference in keeping the trail clean and open. We asked Robert to send us a one of these coffe bags for the Rubicon. We will use it on our local trails in Arizona and when we get back up to the Con. If you love Jeeping like we do realize that you should do this too! If you see trash on the side of the trail, grab it. Trash bags are cheap or free (if you use your noodle like Robert did). Also if you are out on the Rubicon and you see a guy with a light blue YJ and a Great Dane go say hi from us. The Dane, Bella is very friendly and so is Robert.
