Ryan Millen’s Toyota Rav4 Dominates Class in 2016 Oregon Trail RallyPosted in News on April 26, 2016
The dust has settled on the 2016 Oregon Trail Rally, and Ryan Millen with his two-wheel-drive RAV4 SE came out on top of his class and picked up a Top Five overall finish for the rally. Thanks to a well-tuned machine and skilled driving, Ryan was able to tackle the courses obstacles with skilled precision.
The three-day rally wasn’t a breeze. The RAV4 team fought and battled their way to a victory, keeping forward momentum even when setbacks could have put them out of it. With large boulders littering the course from the open class racers, some damage was unavoidable. The Toyota bent a wheel through the roughest section of the course, but Ryan still kept the skinny pedal pinned to the floor. A broken shock on Friday night threatened to top the team right in their tracks, but an all-night grind to get the Toyota running again gave the team the chance they needed.
A blistering performance on Saturday left Ryan and company in Second place before the final stages of the race. Before starting the final stage of the rally, the RAV4 was down 13 seconds to the class leading Ford Fiesta, but after two hours of hard rally racing, the Toyota managed to take the lead by 10 seconds, securing the first win in the Rally America series this season for Millen and company.
Millen was stoked with the victory, saying, “There were so many highs and lows in the race…things just never stopped. At the end of the rally it was just such an amazing feeling. I can’t even describe it.” With this victory behind them, the team looks toward the next race on the Rally America Series.
