Explorer Pro Comp Chrome-Moly Series 2WD Chevy SuspensionOne of the aftermarket's leading suppliers of performance-engineered suspension systems, Explorer Pro Comp, has a new suspension system for '88 to '98 Chevy/GMC 2WD trucks that's unlike any previous production suspension kit. Dubbed the Chrome Moly Series, the kit boasts upper control arms fabbed from 4130 chrome-moly steel, a material that's more expensive and much more durable than the mild steel commonly used in suspension components. The upper control arms use a formed ball joint mounting plate, and the ball joints are held in position by 3/8-inch Grade 8 fasteners; the arms pivot on lubeable, Teflon-lined, aircraft-style Heim joints. Another notable feature of the Chrome Moly Series suspension system is the use of billet alloy blocks that mount between the upper control arm's pivots and the frame. These specially designed blocks serve a dual purpose: They re-position the pivot points of the upper control arms to create an improved arc for the suspension travel, and they provide an accurate means to adjust the frontend alignment. The Chrome Moly Series Pro Ride 6-inch lift suspension system also includes lifted nodular iron spindles, lifted coil springs specific to each GM truck's configuration and weight, rear add-a-leaves, rear blocks with U-bolts, and a quartet of ES3000 gas-charged dampers. Fram's X2 Oil FilterFram's X2 is the company's premium oil filter and represents what Fram claims is a breakthrough in oil filter performance: a high-capacity filter boasting 70 percent more filtering capacity than comparable filters and designed to provide 7,000 miles of maximum filtering performance. Fram's X2 uses the company's patented Triad filter technology, which is described as a inner metal mesh screen that helps retain the pleated shape of the filtering element, which creates better filtering over extended miles. As a bonus, the X2's exterior canister is finished with a silver coating that resembles stainless steel. For more information, contact: Fram/Honeywell Consumer Products Group, Dept. Sam's Offroad Equipment Steering Box BracketIf you 'wheel a '76 to '85 Jeep CJ equipped with 35- to 39-inch-diameter tires, it's likely you already know that the OE steering box brackets are overpowered by the leverage exerted by those large meats, with the results being a noticeable loss in steering precision and, in some cases, outright breakage of the brackets. To cure this malady, Sam's Offroad Equipment developed a new one-piece steering box bracket that's virtually unbreakable, even if your CJ is shod with maximum-sized meats. The rugged, bolt-on, gold iridite-plated steering box brackets are manufactured from 1/2 inch-thick MIG-welded steel plate, and the kit includes iridite-plated Grade 8 fasteners. Mickey Thompson/Alcoa Forged WheelsMickey Thompson/Alcoa are proud to offer two custom aluminum wheels that are incredibly strong, yet superior in style. M/T's Challenger and Classic are identical in construction: less than 8,000 pounds of hydraulic pressure, a hot, 6061-T6 aluminum ingot is formed into an M/T wheel. This hot-die forming process ensures that an Alcoa/MT wheel contains the finest possible grain structure. After the M/T wheels are formed, they're machined and polished to a mirror-like finish. Every M/T wheel is covered by a five-year warranty and is load-rated to carry 2,100 to 3,000 pounds, which makes them ideal for maximum-sized tires. The M/T Challenger wheels are available in 15x8, 15x10, 15x12, 16x7, 16x8, and 17x8 in five-, six-, seven-, and eight-hole bolt patterns; the Classic (top photo) is available in 15x8, 15x10, 15x12, 15x14, 16x7, 16x8, 16x10, and 17x8 in five-, six-, seven-, and eight-hole bolt patterns. PowerLock Auto Security SystemWhile there are certainly a large number of security systems available from the aftermarket, Ultimate Security Systems' new PowerLock anti-theft device is unique in design and function. The PowerLock is engineered and manufactured to combat the leading form of auto theft - hot-wiring. The major components of the PowerLock system are the electronic brain and the metal locking collar for the starter's solenoid. The electronics are housed in a System Control/Display Unit that can be mounted under the dash or behind the dash in conjunction with a remote key reader. The Solenoid Module uses a large metal locking collar that encloses the wires, which are routed from the solenoid to the System Control, and prevents tampering. Once installed by an authorized PowerLock dealer (which takes less than 30 minutes), the system automatically arms 45 seconds after the ignition is turned off, creating an open circuit in the starter's electrical system, thus preventing the solenoid from engaging the starter drive gear. When the PowerLock's special key is touched to a remote dash-mounted reader (or to the reader mounted on the System Control Unit), the starter solenoid is enabled, allowing the vehicle to be started. If the PowerLock is tampered with in any way, the vehicle's horn will sound. The PowerLock system includes two LED status lights that illuminate in red or green to indicate status; all wiring and installation components; and is covered by a lifetime warranty. Stac-Pac Wire Loom KitsKeeping an engine's spark plug wires organized and secure just got a whole lot easier, now that Made For You Products has introduced its Stac-Pac Wire Loom Kits. Designed for tight clearances or for enthusiasts who simply want to organize their engine's plug wires in a unique manner, the Stac-Pac looms maintain two-over-two wire routing from the distributor, along the valve covers, and on to the spark plugs. At the point where the wires split off toward the plugs, additional two-wire separators are used. Vertical mounting brackets secure the separators to the valve covers' hold-down fasteners to support and secure the looms away from high heat areas. The Stac-Pac looms are available in eight colors, feature stainless steel hardware, and are manufactured from heat-resistant nylon, which is guaranteed against heat- or cold-induced melting, cracking, or fading.
