The Slider
Adding to its already extensive line of wheels, American Racing introduces the Slider. A spin-off of the classic five-spoke design, this one-piece alloy wheel is available with a chrome or polished finish, and is offered in 15x7, 15x8, 16x8, 17x8, and 18x9 sizes for both five- and six-lug applications. Get A Grip
When the trail gets tough, RJR Products' new ComboGrip will help keep those rear-seat passengers firmly planted. Using six Velcro straps, the ComboGrip attaches to the rollbar and features a hand grip strap at each end plus two straps in the center to hold a fire extinguisher. The ComboGrip will fit on padded and unpadded rollbars from 2-1/4 to 3-1/2 inches and can be left in place under soft tops and bikini tops. Keep In Touch
Communicating in the backcountry is a whole lot easier with two-way radios such as the new TruTalk TK14 from Maxon. With a range of as much as 2 miles, these radios provide scanning on 14 FRS frequencies, 38 PrivateTalk codes, and an LCD screen that indicates channel, code, and power level. The TK14 also allows the use of ear speakers and lapel microphones. New Dana 60 Housings
With used Dana 60 housings becoming increasingly difficult to find, Dynatrac has begun manufacturing its own high-pinion front and rear housings. They feature reinforced castings of nodular iron for greater strength and a universal design for offset mounting left or right front axle applications. The high-pinion design creates better driveshaft angles and greater ground clearance. Made entirely in the USA, the new housing is available as a complete custom assembly with gears, shafts, and brakes or as a finished housing if you're building your own axles. 3-Inch Cherokee Lift
Full-Traction Suspension is now producing a 3-inch lift kit for '84-and-newer XJ Cherokees. Classic Steering Wheels
Grant Products has extended its line of steering wheels with the new Classic Series. Featuring three- and four-spoke designs, the Classic Series is available with polished stainless steel spokes and either a foam cushion or gloss vinyl grip. Revolver Redux
Tera Manufacturing and Metal Made Rite have teamed up to produce the first TeraFlex Revolver shackles. The Revolver design improves off-road performance by using a scissor-type action, which allows for greater droop. Shackles are currently available for front and rear YJ axles and the CJ rear axle. Cherokee Hoop
For those looking for more travel and greater ground clearance in their XJ Cherokees, Cross Enterprises is now building a rear shock hoop. Designed for Cherokees that run without a rear sway bar, the hoop consists of a bolt-in upper hoop and weld-on lower mounts. For most applications, the only modification necessary will be to the tailpipe. Torch It
For those inclined to work on their rigs at home, HTP America introduces the new Micro Air 125 plasma cutter. Ideal for jobs such as cutting out the fenders for larger tires, the Micro Air 125 features a self-contained air compressor and plugs in-to any 110-volt outlet. It delivers a cutting current of 12 amps, which is enough to easily cut through 1/8-inch steel or stainless steel, and as thick as 16-gauge aluminum.
