Teraflex Tera 60 R - Product Review

Tera60R High-Clearance DifferentialAs the 4x4 marketplace continues to grow, the parts just keep getting better. More and more companies are producing components at the heed of the consumer, which is resulting in a bevy of purpose-built items designed to expand the capabilities and performance of all makes of 4x4s. The new Tera60R High-Clearance Differential from Tera Manufacturing is just one of these spectacular new items.

The Tera60R is designed with extreme 'wheeling in mind, with its unique, smooth-bottom design, providing more ground clearance than even a Dana 44. This is an amazing feat, considering how much larger a standard Dana 60 is by comparison. The Tera unit also features a reinforced top-mounting pad, which is designed to offer excellent durability for consumers using three-link suspensions or torque control struts.

Not one aspect of the Tera60R was left unimproved upon. DOM axle tubing is seated in the housing using a 30-ton press, and plug welds assist in preventing spinning of the axle tubes. A reinforced, ductile cast-iron diff cover and thicker side bearing caps were designed for maximum strength and, according to the manufacturer, virtually eliminate flex and distortion. Improved oiling passages also add to the performance of the Tera60R by providing increased pinion lubrication; the high pinion is said to reduce vibrations caused by severe driveline angles.

Whether you compete in rockcrawling events, race, or just like getting further along the trail than anyone else, the Tera60R High-Clearance Differential can improve your off-road capabilities. With its improved strength and high-clearance for dependable performance on the trail, it's one of those items that will have you trail-fixing your buddy's rig rather than your own.
