Jeep Hood Lift - Product Review

Who says Jeeps can't have the features of luxury vehicles? After all, air conditioning was first offered on CJ models in 1977, and Jeep TJs now feature driver- and passenger-side airbags. So what's one more new gadget to ease the lives of us Jeep-lovin' folk? Enter the Hood Lift, the most effortless means of raising the hood of your Jeep CJ, YJ, or TJ.

The Hood Lift kit includes two gas struts and all of the necessary brackets and hardware to secure them in place. The brackets also offer the ability to mount the struts in varied positions, allowing the hood to be raised to different heights and offering more or less force in lifting of the hood. This is a great feature for those of you with low garages where the factory hood prop sets the hood up too high. Once the hood is unlatched, all it takes to raise it to the damped stop of the gas struts is a slight push. The effort is duplicated in lowering the hood.

We installed the Hood Lift on our PMO TJ in a little more than an hour after reading through the very detailed instructions, which we found were best read on the couch during commercials the night before the install. The hood is now raised with hardly the lift of a finger and is no longer prone to being thrust against the windshield in the event of heavy winds.
