Advanced Air SuperFlow Power Tank - Product ReviewPosted in Product Reviews on December 1, 2003 Comment (0)
Having a dependable and efficient on-board air system while out on the trail is invaluable. Airing up tires, seating a tire off its bead, or undertaking repairs with air tools are next to impossible and time consuming without one. In 1997 Advanced Air Systems Inc. created the Power Tank, a CO2 on-board air system that is extremely efficient, lightweight, and portable. In 2003 the company improved upon its original system design with the SuperFlow HP Regulator, which now fits all new power tanks. The new regulator has been completely re-engineered from the inside-out, and it offers a 33 percent increase in flow-rate and pressure output compared with the original design.
The power tank has always been an extremely useful addition to our trail rigs and project vehicles; the new SuperFlow Power Tank even more so. We were amazed at the new regulator's ability to inflate our 35x12.5R15 tires from 8 to 32 psi in 25-30 seconds. Having the Power Tank mounted in the bed of our project Toyota, we can easily access and inflate all four tires with the 25-foot durathane ballistic coil hose and HD tire inflator, which are also available from Advanced Air Systems. The Power Tank also actuates the ARB Air Locker in the front axle of the Toyota, and this is done using the Advanced Air System's ARB manifold install kit. After making trail repairs using the air tools, the Power Tank had plenty of CO2 leftover for numerous tire inflations.
Depending on tire size, inflation time of 5-15 psi may vary; a 33x12.5R15 tire will take about 20 seconds and a 42x15R15 tire will take approximately 75 seconds.
