Most cookbooks that you find today don't really take into consideration camping lifestyles. They usually work off the assumption that you have a large oven and a ton of kitchen utensils available. We found a cookbook that we think our readers will really enjoy: The Official Off-Road, Camping & RVer's Cookbook written by Grant Reid.
The Official Off-Road, Camping & RVer's Cookbook is unique in that it offers several ways to cook each recipe. If you're four-wheeling or camping, the cooking methods are: Dutch oven (complete with easy-cooking Dutch oven tips) campfire, camp stove, intake manifold, or grill. For the RVers out there, you can use one of the methods above or the oven/microwave in your RV. All food preparation involves using the "dinner-in-a-bag" method, making the actual meals quite simple to prepare.
A few of the recipes that we're looking forward to trying are Omelette in a Bag, Chicken Monterey, Grilled Pineapple BBQ Shrimp, and Sweet Tooth Pizza. All of them look extremely tasty and very easy to make. It really is amazing what you can make using simple tools like foil, Ziploc baggies, skewers, and in some recipes, your engine block!
