For some, the winch is a perfect insurance policy for venturing out alone – one that is rarely cashed in. For others, it is a tool that is used every bit as often as the “locker” button. In either case, when the need arises, you want that winch to function as advertised, as it could become the most important modification you make to your 4x4.

Warn’s new pistol grip controller has been reshaped for comfort and has a rugged rubberized housing.

Warn’s Ultimate Performance Series winches are designed for the serious wheeler that demands the best from their winch. These winches offer no-compromise construction, extreme weather sealing, and a level of reliability and dependability required for intense situations.

While most of the recent buzz has focused on Warn’s new entry-level line of VR-series winches, last year Warn quietly introduced an upgrade to its stalwart 9.5-series of winches called the 9.5cti. The 9.5cti replaces the 9.5ti in the model line-up and includes a host of upgrades that anchor it in Warn’s Ultimate Performance Series lineup.

The 9.5cti is rated at 9,500 pounds with a no-load line speed of 62 ft/min. As with the 9.5ti, the 9.5cti has a robust die-cast aluminum-alloy housing that houses the integrated control box. It is this housing that in our opinion makes the 9.5cti one of the most nicely styled winches on the market.

If you are familiar with the 9.5ti, you will notice that the 9.5cti drops the graphite finish and now offers a durable, chip-resistant high-gloss black powdercoating that matches other Ultimate Performance Series winches, such as the Endurance 12.0. It also now has the same easy-to-use stainless clutch lever as the Endurance 12.0.

Internally, the 9.5cti has an all-new contactor that features cadmium-plated copper contacts for durability and improved winch response and control. This new contactor is more heat-resistant and provides an outstanding duty-cycle. Like the 9.5ti, the 9.5cti utilizes a series-wound motor and a three-stage planetary geartrain. Also like 9.5ti, the 9.5cti offers a motor-mounted thermometric sensor that prevents motor meltdowns by providing motor temperature feedback to the operator via an indicator lamp on the remote control. The remote control has a new ergonomic pistol-grip shape. The rubberized design is more sturdy than the old remote and incorporates better sealing.

Each 9.5cti includes 125-feet of 5⁄16-inch-diameter wire rope, a hook, and roller fairlead. Warn also offers a synthetic winch line separately. Designed to stand the test of time with quality parts and finishes, Warn backs these winches with a limited lifetime warranty. The 9.5cti offers Made in the U.S.A quality that you and your 4x4 can count on. FW
