Overdrive Control
The Overdrive Inverter from InterMotive Products automatically disengages the Overdrive gear at startup on Ford, Dodge, and Jeep 4x4s. The company says its Inverter prolongs transmission life and provides a performance feel. The Inverter prevents the transmission from shifting into Overdrive too soon, and the Overdrive gear can be selected during high-speed driving with the press of a button. Information: InterMotive Inc., Dept. 4WOR, 2791F N. Texas St., Ste. 155, Fairchild, CA 94533, 707/438-7828.

Handy Rolls
Standard Abrasives' E-Z Handy Roll comes with 50 yards of aluminum-oxide abrasive designed for sanding spindles, resurfacing disc-brake rotors, removing metal deposits from bearings, finishing hard-to-reach places, scuffing-up brake drums, and cleaning metal from transmission shafts. The E-Z Handy Roll comes in a variety of grits in 1- or 2-inch-wide rolls. Information: Standard Abrasives Inc., Dept. 4WOR, 4201 Guardian St., Simi Valley, CA 93063, 805/520-5800, Web site www.sa-motorsports.com

TJM Snorkels
Roof-level TJM Airtec Snorkels can prevent water from entering the engine during river or stream crossings and improve overall air intake under normal driving conditions. Other benefits include a ram-air effect at higher speeds and cooler airflow into the engine. The snorkels are available for Land Rover Discoverys, Isuzu Rodeos, and Toyota pickups, 4Runners, and Land Cruisers. Information: Hella Inc., Dept. 4WOR, 201 Kelly Dr., Peachtree City, GA 30269, 800/247-5924.

Thermoplastic Hose Clamp
The PowerGrip SB clamp from Gates is designed to provide a maintenance-free connection on high-performance engine hoses. Made of heat-sensitive material, it can be installed by shrinking it with a heat gun and can correct coolant leakage problems, even on out-of-round fittings. Gates says the clamp never needs retightening and won't rust or corrode like metal clamps. Information: Gates Rubber Co., Dept. 4WOR, P.O. Box 5887, Denver, CO 80217, 800/788-2358, Web site www.gates.com.

Power Strokes
Gale Banks Engineering is rolling out three levels of bolt-on power products for '94-'98 Ford Power Stroke trucks. Banks builds Stinger, Stinger-Plus, and PowerPack systems to suit every budget and taste for torque. All three systems contain Banks' OttoMind, an exclusive engine-calibration module that maintains perfect fuel delivery and safe exhaust temperature, according to the company. The popular PowerPack is said to add up to 120 horses and 256 lb-ft of torque to Ford 7.3L turbodiesels, with an average 10 percent increase in fuel economy. Information: Gale Banks Engineering, Dept. 4WOR, 546 Duggan Ave., Azusa, CA 91702, 800/GET-POWER (438-7693), Web site www.getpower.com.

High-Efficiency Oil Filters
Mobil 1 says its new high-efficiency oil filters remove significantly more contaminants than conventional filters. Designed for all types of vehicles, Mobil 1 filters are compatible with either conventional or synthetic oil. In SAE multiple-pass efficiency tests, Mobil 1 high-efficiency filters demonstrated 96 percent weighted-average efficiency in removing damaging particles compared to an average of 82 percent for conventional filters and 88 percent for other premium filters. This cab-high, frameless-window shell is constructed with a Dev-Loc rail-mount system to reinforce stress areas and provide a rigid base and bed/cab seal, is 100 percent premium unfilled fiberglass, and is Ultra-Seal finished to prevent condensation and mildew.
