Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 Tires and Fuel Off-Road Trophy WheelsPosted in Product Reviews on September 3, 2013 Comment (0)
The new ATZ P3 is a tire that bridges that gap between all-terrain and mud-terrain, and it's the newest model to join the Mickey Thompson lineup. Fuel Off-Road's new forged Trophy beadlock represents a pinnacle in off-road wheels that combines all the best attributes on one rim. Put together, we got one of our most favored wheel-and-tire combos we've ever adorned a truck with.
Let's start with the ATZ P3 since Mickey Thompson started a lot of the features that we find on today's off-road tires. The ATZ P3 is every bit the result of decades of off-road tire manufacturing and off-roader input, with large tread voids, a flatter tread face, and lots of siping on wide tread blocks that won't distort and allow tread squirm. With a new T4 high-silica content tread compound, it's a tire that will not only get you to the trail in comfort, but right up it as well. More aggressive than an all-terrain, but with better highway and wet-traction performance than a mud-terrain, Mickey Thompson's ATZ P3 is one of the first in a new class of tires that many enthusiasts are gravitating toward.
And what better rim to put a new class of tire onto than one that embodies everything that we look for in a wheel? Fuel's new Trophy wheel design is one that not only pleases the eye but also the performance monger in you. Offered in a forged true beadlock design, it's a wheel that is not only lighter but also stronger than a cast wheel. The matte black rim and anthracite beadlock ring combination offsets the up-to-date eight-spoke style of the wheel beautifully and makes for one subtle but very aesthetically pleasing wheel.
Both the ATZ P3 and the forged Trophy rims are excellent representations of how tires and wheels are changing for the better. When you go to purchase your next set of tires and wheels, you could stick with your old favorites or you can step up to the latest in tire and wheel technology.
