There’s A New Wrangler In Town
It's been a few years since Goodyear has added to its Wrangler tire lineup, the last new offering being the MTR with Kevlar in 2009. Goodyear is back at it though, making a late summer launch of its Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar. We had a chance to get a firsthand look at the new tire during a daylong adventure held in Colorado Springs.
By the end of 2013 Goodyear plans to have a full lineup of 44 Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar sizes, with 20 of those sizes Pro-Grade LT fitments. The Pro-Grade LT sizes are all Load Range E tires and feature an enhanced tread compound to resist chipping and chunking. Additionally, the Pro-Grade-designated LT sizes offer two layers of Kevlar atop the steel belt for greater durability, and a heavier-duty steel belt package with 30-percent more steel than non-Pro-Grade fitments.
The Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar carries a 60,000-mile/96,000-kilometer tread life limited warranty on standard load and LT sizes. It is offered in 16-, 17-, 18-, and 20-inch wheel fitments and one 15-inch wheel fitment, which is a 31x10.50R15LT (Load Range C). We would love to see a 33x12.50R15 added to the line up, as well as a 35x12.50R17. Near equivalent sizes for the 33-inch size are offered for 16-, 17-, 18-, and 20-inch wheel fitments, and for the 35-inch size in only 20-inch wheel fitments. The coverage is broad but it could be even better with the extra size offerings noted above.
Overall, our experience driving on the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar was very positive. On-road handling was great and it tackled the dirt, mud, and gravel terrain with ease. Check out the photos and captions for more details about this new Goodyear Wrangler offering. We'll have plenty more to say about this excellent tire once we have a set on our own rig and can subject them to some more extreme situations. Our gut tells us they'll be quite a contender. We look forward to finding out for certain.
